OPEN OFFICE WRITER
.html FILE GENERATION TEST
This is a test document to
show what imported HTML frrm Open Office Writer will look like when passed
to my www.helmers.com
WWW site. Open Office Writer has several different variations of a page spanning
horizontal rule line that can be invoked by a repeated pattern of three
characters followed by the <ENTER> key. The result is a sort of minimal border
for a box with no height. I found the following eight triplets producing
variations on this concept in Open Office Writer:
--- <ENTER> yields:
_ _ _ <ENTER> yields:
*** <ENTER> yields:
= = = <ENTER> yields:
~~~ <ENTER> yields:
# # # <ENTER> yields:
Word 2003 does not seem to have this concept of a horizontal ruled line. There is an imperfect kluge for the simplest “---” form of horizontal ruled line: underline a whole line of spaces with one “period” or other small non blank character at the end of the line.
Here is an example of a .jpg graphic embedded in the file
Here is an example of a boxed paragraph:
<START BOX> CH flag removed by hand when building box
This is an example of a boxed paragraph. In this case, OOWriter does not properly transform boxes done in word processing space into the boxes I want in my WWW site's space. The imported HTML of this paragraph has to be enclosed explicitly and manually in a standard “4” width box after being imported into the www.helmers.com site by Front Page 2003.
<END BOX> CH flag removed by hand when building box
and here is where I wanted to put in a hyperlink to a bookmark
that I created above, but was unable to do any links in MS Word 2003 that could be output as an HTML file internal link... L>
